Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) and Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO)
Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) and Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) are collaborating to fund new and existing coalitions to join a statewide initiative working to ensure that Colorado’s land, water, and wildlife thrive while also providing for equitable and quality outdoor recreation experiences through the Regional Partnerships Initiative (RPI). Follow the link to learn more about the RPI and for a list of the local organizations involved in this initiative.
The Colorado outdoor partnership
The Colorado outdoor partnership works towards this vision using Colorado’s Outdoor Principles, and acknowledges that outdoor recreation and conservation should reflect, respect and value the demographic and cultural diversity of our state.
Statewide Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan (SCORP)
Every five years, Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) leads the development of a comprehensive outdoor recreation plan to maintain eligibility for funding through the Land and Water Conservation Fund, and to inform additional investments from other federal, state, local, and private programs. Given the significance of outdoor recreation in the state, SCORP is much more than a federal requirement for funding. This plan reflects the shared vision and commitment of Colorado outdoor partners to advance recreation enjoyment and conservation of Colorado’s outdoor resources.
Colorado’s Outdoor Strategy
Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO), Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW), Colorado Department of Natural Resources (DNR), and the Colorado Governor’s Office are convening an effort to develop a regionally rooted, statewide vision and action plan for conservation, recreation, and climate resilience.
